The idol of Padmavathi Devi, believed to be over 600 years old, was originally located at Hebbailu along Sharavathi river and was once patronised by the Vijayanagara Empire. Hence the goddess is also addressed as Hebbailamma. When Linganamakki Dam came up, the deity was shifted to an elevated area. It is surrounded by an anthill. Devotees throng this temple praying for the fulfilment of their wishes. Childless couples and others offer bundles of bangles to the Goddess in prayer & gratitude.
